Default Conversion Cassette Question

At risk of seeming doofus...

I got ahold of some Alex ALX600 wheels... which are nice... problem is,
they are shimano wheels, and I am a campy-only kind of guy.

I bought an American Classic cassette - and it really runs rough. I
mean, BAD. And, the 12-23 and 12-25 configurations cause the chain to
rub on my frame (brand new frame) when in the 12. So, effectively, my
smallest cog is a 13.

Anyone have any experience with these? Any better ideas? What does it
take to change the hub to a Campy-compatible hub? That seems the best
thing to do.

Use a shimano 9s or 10s cogset and chain. Adjust rear der-go ride.
