Default Water Bottle Holders

I have been using the super-light plastic water bottle holders. I discovered that the screws will pull through and the bottle holder break off at the worst possible time.

So what I did is when I replaced my Look cleats that you can use the old rectangular washers under the screws and it makes these plastic holders absolutely bulletproof.

I remember Cateye nylon cages being one of my best options back when I thought it was a good idea to have drinking water at the ready. I never had one pull off its mounting bolts, but then I've always been a bit of a stickler for using appropriately sized washers.

These days, I'm more likely to stop somewhere for a caffeine or alcohol beverage. But when I play with my brass band, I usually have two bike bottles loaded with Kentucky's finest. The bottle cages are mounted to my drum harness.

True. Some stainless steel washers are essential with those cages. Yet
they didn't include them. You can also buy truss head, or flanged,
stainless M5-8 bolts instead of using a separate washer.

There is insufficient room for a large enough washer that won't put through on a hard bump. The rectangular washers work great.

I always use a washer for mounting those bottle cages, and they are the
only cages I use on my bikes.

The distance between the plastic risers are too narrow for a washer that is sufficient to strongly hold the plastic cages and they break sooner or later. With the cleat washers you can tell the difference in mounting strength immediately and you never have a bit of trouble with them.
