Default Fork geometry questions

Hi,
I am wondering if changing the fork rake affects bike handling *OTHER
THAN* its effect on the trail of the bike. Since trail can also be
changed by modifying the head tube angle, why aren't frames built
with straight fork blades?

My only guess is that having the steering axis offset from the center
of the wheel must affect the "resistance" of the handlebars due to
conservation of angular momentum.

Can anybody give me some insight into what fork rake does?
