What's wrong with making the earth serve our purpose? I don't belong to
this earth, it belongs to me. And I don't apologize for that.

We're not a blip- we ARE what this world is about. Global warming is junk
science. Get your head out of the sand.

Out of 4.5 BILLION years we have been around for maybe 10,000 years, and
that is a blip in time. Does your definition of making the earth serve
our purpose include mass destruction of habitat, extinction of species,
and eventual destruction of the earth's ability to support life?
Get YOUR head out of your ass.

Is there no middle ground in this group? You appear to be the equal and
opposite of Vandermann, which brackets you firmly in the ****wit
category. Your attitude is the reason why the world hates America at the
moment.

It looks like I'm not the only one who can spot an idiot.
Mr. 'User friendly' seems content to destroy the earth.

It is, in fact, making Americans a little nervous about
America ...

Where in the world have we found all these nutcases who argue the
Earth is 6,000 years old, that girls sexually abused by their
fathers should have to carry the baby to term, and that we should
have draft dodgers (incompetently) waging pre-emptive war and
paying for it by running up the national debt?

Reagan, Bush #1, Bush #2.

Pretty amazing.

If it makes you feel any better, there are Americans who believe
that protecting the environment is worth doing, it's a good idea
to have plenty of places to ride mountain bikes, and that the
real goal in life is to seek harmony with all of mankind and nature.

Much better to spend the day on a mountain bike roughing up some dirt
than to be driving a car and grossly polluting.

Cheers, Wolf.

Thanks for demonstrating exactly what throw-backs mountain bikers are.
Don't let your knuckles drag on the ground.

Whoever posted that we ARE what this world is about places way too high
an importance on humans and their ability to destroy the planet without
any regard for future generations.
He must have really calloused knuckles.

Global warming (hoax)

Not a hoax. The first time I heard about it (in any form) was in
a physics course, were we estimated the surface temperature of the
earth treating it as black body (perfect absorber, perfect emitter).
The temperature turned out too low - the oceans should have been
frozen. The reason was the "greenhouse" effect of CO2 and other
gasses naturally occuring in the atmosphere.

This was well before there was any politics involved and nobody said
the sky was falling. It was simply an explanation of why an overly
simplified calculation didn't get the right answer (but it's not like
the oversimplified one was off by a factor of 2 either).

We need some global warming (the naturally occuring amount). It's just
that unpredicable, and possibly very disruptive, things might happen
if we change the composition of the atmosphere too much.

I think the effects we will see are more like globally wacko weather
with higher high temperature records and also record low swings. Throw
in an extra high powered hurricane, tornado, and rain or snow storms and
I think that will just be the first manifestation.
The moral might just be "Mess with the earth and it will mess with you.".
