Default Cycling boom triggers crime spree

QUOTE:
"The booming trend for cycling has made expensive bikes a target.

Two Beverley bike shops were targeted on Friday. Wilsons Wheels is counting the cost after the Grovehill Road shop was broken into at 6am on Friday. Beverley Car and Cycles, in Norwood, was the target for an attempted break-in on the same night. Both shops have been targeted previously.

Nathan Wilson, owner of Wilsons Wheels, said a witness tried to pursue a suspect escaping with an orange £400 Diamondback mountain bike and expensive equipment. Alarms had been triggered when the window was smashed.

Mr Wilson said: "You don't expect it in Beverley - it's the second-best place to live in the country but there seems to be a high crime spree at the moment."

Only to be expected. It's not because of huge demand, it's because the
idiot cyclists are willing to pay well over the odds for the latest
trendy child's toy and are serial law breakers who don't mind buying
bent gear.

Doesn't paint a very good picture of cyclists in general.

GPS every new bike in several places, under the seat, inside the down tube, etc.

That bit I agree with.
