Default Flat Tire Repair Question from MB Newbie

"Seeker" wrote in message
om...
I recently bought my son a new mountain bike. Both tires are already
flat. I suspect it happened when we rode over some undeveloped land,
plus I pulled a prickly burr from his tire. :/

Anyway, got some tire sealant but can't understand the directions! It
says to "Remove valve cap and valve cores." How do I remove the valve
core?! I've searched Google web and news for the answer but came up
empty (like the tire... HAHAHAA. Sorry.).

I'm sure once I figure out how to do that, the rest will make sense:

2. Insert bottle stem into the valve.
3. Press bottle to valve and screw onto right side until you are sure
the bottle stem and tire valve been connected. [typos all over the
place on the instructions, so what the heck does this mean?]
...
5. Rotate the tire for 8Km...

What is 8Km? 8000 meters? If so, how do I measure that? It's a 24"
bike. How many revolutions?

Thanks in advance, mountain-bikers!

You really don't need tire sealant. I'd recommend going to a "Local Bike
Shop" (LBS) and buying some inner tubes; have them help you get correct
size, AND show you how to replace them. You'll probably end up buying lots
of things

Yes. Either in a Camelbak (backpack hydration system w/storage) or in a
saddle bag. (Jersey pocket if a latent roadie.)

Most of us also carry a pump and/or CO2 inflator; plastic tire levers;
multi-tool (including chain-breaker), and food.

I feel my wallet being emptied as we speak... but I definitely need the
camelback stuff, as we're in Dallas, Texas, and it's been triple digits
a few times already this year.

No problem....that's what I'm here for, to protect (from that Sorni
know-it-all) and serve....hehehe!

Seriously, Sorni's advice about getting a hydration pack and spare
tubes (etc) is a good one. That's what I do, but since you already
have the goop....

Yeah, I'm pickin' up that recommended stuff this weekend. I bet y'all
are also going to tell me to get helmets and gloves! sheesh.

Thanks, again...

P.S. Is this the friendliest newsgroup on the 'net?
