Aye, London's not a happy place at the moment. Pretty much the only sounds are sirens and helicopters. As far as I can tell, all my family and friends are ok. I've had a fair few concerned phone calls and e-mails, as I normally work out of an office round the corner from Moorgate (scene of one of the blasts). However, I'm working out of our other office today. Good to hear ya blokes are alright... well, relatively speaking (sans Shaun) WTF?!? Why, what's wrong with me Slack ya gret goof! Heheheh... This attack was well thought out, apparently by people who live here. We'll probly get to hear more of this as the investigations continue, right day, right time, right place etc. By chance our daughter and her husband who both work in the City were out of town today at opposite ends of the country. Also safe are her husbands relatives. Dad left v. early and was in Chambers, Mum stayed off work at home today waiting for a plumber, two kidsare at school in the City and are staying there overnight with friends, the other child is at school in Islington well away from the target area. What a relief. So glad to hear they're OK mate! Sheesh, I'd have been a nervosu wreck... Just to introduce a light note, some morons posted early today saying they thought the bombs had Made in France on the side because Paris lost out to London in the 2012 Olympics. They quickly came back to eat humble pie when the true horror became known. Mike Silly sods! Funny you should mention that - this is what our kid Taryn came back from school saying, heheheheh... Four bombs, in the middle of London, at the height of rush hour. If they'd been well organised, and / or aiming for maximum civilian casualties the death toll would / should have been far greater. I'm with you on this Jon - if they knew what they were doing, or were going for maximum impact, there'd be hundreds if not thousands dead... Enough to make one wonder WTF exactly was going on. This is bad, real, real bad... I hope any of you in London, or who have friends or relatives in London - well I just hope to hells you are ALL alright/. Be safe. Shaun aRe I watched in horror early this morning but didn't post because I was on my way to a medical appointment and beyond. What a senseless loss of life and limb and what cowards they are. I also post on a UK newsgroup and was amazed by several responses: "We don't live in London so why should we care?". Are people really that blasé at home anymore? None that I'd care to know, Dora. ;-( Shaun aRe |

Be safe getting home brother. Turned out ok. Everyone tried to get out of London at 5 (hmm, post-terrorist attack, let's see if we can form the largest crowd possible(?)), so by the time I got out the pub everywhere was pretty much deserted. Best of luck to you and thanks for the reports. Sue(tm) Lead me not into temptation... I can find it myself! |

And how in all hells, do you target and destroy, a group consisting of individuals, spread out amongs innocents all the heck over the globe, with a hug ilitary machine? Oh I know - bomb the hell out os wherever you feel the ratio of terrorists to innocents is greatest, and stuff the innocents, because well, after all, they are just casualties of war, and doing so will not have more people become terrorists, and plant more bombs, that will kill more innocents, that will see huge military machines, bombing more innocents etc. etc. ad NAUSIUM. Living in England, I would hope you could see the difference betweeen "bomb the hell out of wherever..." and what was done in Afghanistan. London experienced the reality of your statement. Afghanistan didn't. Violence begets violence. If it were only that easy. Read Al Qaeda's charter. Basically, we all have two options. One, convert the entire world to a Taliban-like Islam society. Dress your women in burkhas, get rid of all the music, etc. Or exterminate them like the cockroaches they are. No matter WHAT we do (including calling off the war on terror), we're infidels that must be eliminated. They don't really need any excuse to kill us, in their mind. In our last episode, , the lovely and talented Mark Hickey broadcast on alt.skunks: If it were only that easy. Read Al Qaeda's charter. Literature has a rather large stack of manifestos that promised paradise to the faithful and decreed mayhem to infidels until they were extinguished. They are dead letters because they were deprived of the base they spoke to. They didn't lose that base to genocide. They lost because material conditions changed and the grievances upon which they fed were redressed. Basically, we all have two options. One, convert the entire world to a Taliban-like Islam society. Dress your women in burkhas, get rid of all the music, etc. Or exterminate them like the cockroaches they are. Sorry, but you present a false dilemma. No matter WHAT we do (including calling off the war on terror), we're infidels that must be eliminated. They don't really need any excuse to kill us, in their mind. But they do need soldiers. When we stop recruiting for them, they will soon run out volunteers. -- Lars Eighner http://www.larseighner.com/ I don't see posts from or threads started from googlegroups.
