Cash for clunkers.

Does this Volvo look like a clunker?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waj2K...layer_embedded

Could they have resold it or parted it out to reclaim some of the
dollars back in to the program?

****ing morons idea was to destroy engines as some kind of
validation. They could have sandbagged the title and VIN to keep the
cars off the road?

And trading in an 18mpg car for a 22mpg does jack ****.

This is a $3B waste.

Perhaps SOTS should sponsor a clown car for clunkers program.

Or we could pay to bomb a sovereign country's infrastructure twice and
rebuild it (minus fresh water, etc.) via no-bid contracts.

Wait, we already did that and it's not socialism when only the rich
benefit.

I agree on one thing-- the only good Volvo is a dead Volvo, unless you
own a repair shop of course. --D-y

You have to ask, "Why was this Volvo worth less than $3500?" before you
can go any further with the questions.

I've had the 'pleasure' of shopping for a new car this week and have
spoken with a number of folks at the dealerships I've visited
CARS. Funny thing, but the VAST majority of clunkers turned in
weren't actually being driven by the owners, but just happened to be a
third, or sometimes fourth, car that they finally decided to get rid
of. CARS hasn't taken any significant number of clunkers off the
road, but rather got them out of the driveways of folks who've been
holding onto them for years. I'm glad my tax dollars have been used
to motivate folks to finally get their junk out of their driveways.

The money spent on CARS may be good for car dealerships, but it is not
meeting any stated ecological goals in getting guzzlers off the
roads.
