Rear shocks: Fox float, vanilla, brain

I have a hardtail. I love it and don't really like the "bob" of a dually.

Perhaps its your riding style that is damaging the wheels and hubs?

know of heavier people busting floats like crazy. A vanilla would do but

feel thats more for urban and downhill riders and that the bob would

get to me...I tried one out last night. Please educate me.

Progressive Suspension 5th Element shock. No-bob. Like riding on a cloud its
so smooth.

Whats a good rear hub, non-disk, that would last? something of good value,
regardless of the name.

I don't ride them myself yet but I know of a few people that do; amazing
value and great quality components can be found in oryx bikes. I wish i
knew
about them before buying my big name bike www.oryx.ca Most bikes come
with race face and bombers. I don't know how available they are out of
canada though.

If you love hardtails and hate bob, get yourself a Specialized Epic Comp w/
brain. It rides like a hardtail with awesome rear traction, and takes drops
like a champ! It should be able to handle a 200 lb. rider.

I agree almost entirely. The one thing I'd change is to say you should get
the S-Works if you can afford it. Quite a bit lighter than the comp, but it
will also lighten your wallet a lot more too!

I weigh 230 lbs, I use a Fox Vanila on a Kona Stiny Primo. I have
little to no bob. From my experience many people get bob because they
don't have the shock set up correctly, you need a spring heavy enough
to support your weight. It will bob like a crack whore short on cash,
if the spring is too light. Air shocks are for small people, at 200
lbs you will likely have problems with an air shock.

like hardtail? but would like that he turns in to the full from time to
time? on it's own, just when you need one? Specialized Epic.

Picking through new Fox site and '04 manuals I bumped in to the adjustable
brain, so it might be that they are in store for the next season. Worth to
consider.
