Gunderson's No Recollection Defense
Armstrong's attorney Tim Herman, however, recently said in a statement
that "neither Armstrong or Bruyneel have any recollection of meeting [Saugy] for any purpose at any time," and "Armstrong was never informed by anyone in 2001 or any other time about either a positive or 'suspicious' test". Oops. The lab medical director says otherwise. It's not clear where the meeting took place, but a meeting did take place. Saugy met with the FBI and Novitsky at WADA headquarters in Montreal over a year ago and confirmed a meeting but denied that he discussed any specific test results. Note to Tim Herman--the no recollection line doesn't play well in front of a petit jury. |
