Is there a small satellite radio setup suitable for long bike rides
that anyone knows about?

Don't have one myself, but CNET has a review of XM radio portable unit.
Review is he

I'm pretty sure Sirius has a model due to be released soon, but I
haven't seen any write-ups on it yet.

Look up the XM Radio - "My-Pfi" - the latest product just released in Nov.
'04 - personal satellite radio - over 100 channels...
