Default Tire Damage?

On Saturday, my front wheel hit something, perhaps a rock, straight on.
Then, on Sunday, I noticed that the tire had a kink, a bulge or bump on
both sides of the tire--an Avocet FasGrip 700x25, inflated to about 110
psi. The rim looks all right, but I'm not sure about the tire, and I'm
wondering if its integrity, perhaps on the sidewalls, has been
compromised.

Even if the tire is still safe to ride on, there's this little
bump-bump with every rotation, so I replaced the tire, but I'm curious
if anyone else had experienced this phenomenon, as I've never had such
a thing happen before.

It is well known.... some of the reinforcing threads in the tire casing
have broken and the stiffness and strength of the impaced area has declined.

One result is the local bulge.

A later result would be premture failure of the casing.

It's time to replace the tire.
