Legal in most other locales except a few UCI sanctioned events or USCF roadie events (no hand brakes/fixie). The bike has other UCI issues besides the aero fender. OK, it looks as if its only 'concept' is maybe the ultimate hour record, so whats with the helmet that was painted to match? You design a limited use single speed and you pair it with a helmet that isn't the same concept at all? Or are ultimate aero helmets looking different these days? Ultimate Hour record? 'cos I'm pretty sure that would be taken by a faired recumbent. That thing is a pure show bike, and nothing wrong with it. I think of it as an imagination of where the Lotus-style "Superbike" trend might have taken us. http://www.lunt.demon.co.uk/bike.htm -- Ryan Cousineau http://www.wiredcola.com/ "I don't want kids who are thinking about going into mathematics to think that they have to take drugs to succeed." -Paul Erdos |

At the time it was legal for UCI. I heard nothing about why he didn't use it, but I'm guessing it wasn't stable enough. |

I like this one too. A pista version wouldn't get dirty enough to need cleaning. I wonder what its CdA is. "The unique 'fork' of Brent Ruegamer's Blackbird concept is designed to smooth the airflow coming off of the front wheel"..........and so increase drag on the trailing part of the bicycle. From a structural standpoint, the front wheel is now cantilevered via a tortuous load path. Not the most efficient structurally and the front end will be softer which will affect the handling. These circus bikes are a distraction for him and the quality of his frames has suffered as a result. |

You mean I'll get arrested if I buy it?
-- Steven L. Sheffield Well, since it's a 1-off concept, I'd guess you would have to steal it. So yes, that would be illegal. |

You saying that the designers would never sell their one-off concept? If I see you riding that thing, I'll have the Fashion Police arrest you and send you to jail for a million years, plus ground you for life. So yeah, it is illegal. Ben RBR Ministry of Taste |
