Tail light that does not use fixed internal batteries
I had a cygolite tail light, but the poorly constructed light went out in less than a year. I am looking for a replacement that does NOT use a non-user replaceable battery. One that uses a 16350 would be nice.
Thanks |

I guess you could use NiMH batteries https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Led-Cycling-Tail-Light-Lamp-Flash-Flashlight-Lights-Bicycle-Accessories-CATEYE-Bike-Taillight-Waterproof-MTB-Bike/32899826011.html I believe that this is the best tail light ever made. 1. Side pointing LEDs as well as rear pointing LEDs. 2. AA not AAA batteries, for much longer time between battery changes. 3. Mounts to seat post or to rear rack mounting bracket. Not sold in the U.S. anymore, you have to order it from China. |

Yes, definitely the best affordable tail light ever made. The only one with better optics, Busch und Muller Toplight Line Plus, is German and doesn't flash and isn't a battery lamp but needs to be wired to a hub-dyno driven front lamp by the same maker (BUMM) for power and switching.. You can see both the Cateye and the BUMM in action on one of my bikes at http://coolmainpress.com/BICYCLINGbuildingpedelec5.html and scroll down the page for daylight effect, and on http://coolmainpress.com/BICYCLINGbuildingpedelec6.html and down the page for nighttime visibility. In Ireland I paid Euro 56 for the first of these Cateye rear lamps that I bought, and found it such a bargain, and so efficient (200 hrs on two AA batteries) that I fitted it to all my bikes. Two AAA batteries that last a couple years. I hang two of them from my seatbag. And another one hanging from a zip tie through the back of my helmet. More lights is better. |

My experience over the years is that many (if not most) of the lights I've bought tend to break, have a switch go out, or some other thing go wrong--so they don't really outlast the lifetime of non-replaceable batteries. -- Ted Heise West Lafayette, IN, USA |

Thanks PB superflash is popular. https://www.westernbikeworks.com/pro...yABEgLEA_D_BwE I had one for years and still have it, but I find flashers annoying in an environment with a lot of bikes, so I use a L&M rechargeable rear pulsing light. Eye-popping flashers are still more common. -- Jay Beattie. |
