What is the advantage of yellow valve caps and threaded Schraedervalves?
I replaced the tires on my daughter's bicycle that she rides to school
since they were all cracked on the sidewalls, and put on narrower tires, so I had to get smaller diameter tubes. The ones I got were Continental tubes, and the Schraeder valves are metal had have a nut (like on Presta valves) and yellow valve caps. The nut is kind of nice when you're inflating a tire with a new tube since the valve doesn't get pushed through the hole, but why the yellow valve caps? Do yellow valve caps make you go faster? Or am I supposed to use something other than regular air (on my motor vehicles, they all use nitrogen in the tires and have green valve caps, and the nitrogen does help a lot). |

It's for European Heritage & MystiqueTM! Even though their tubes are probably made in Taiwan. |

Hopefully the threaded metal stem might reduce failure at the stem/tube junction if the bike is walked any distance with a flat tyre. But I've only recently started using such tubes, so that's untested. John |

The yellow caps are easier to find when you drop them on the floor or ground. -- Tom Sherman - 42.435731,-83.985007 LOCAL CACTUS EATS CYCLIST - datakoll |
