Beach road is near the beach right?

It's just called that to trick tourists..

It's the main logging route to/from the Dandenong
Ranges. I think it was called Beach Rd. because
the road was originally built onto a deep bed of
sand. Anyone? It has some of Melbourne's
nastiest hills and although it attracts many riders,
only the real nutters ride the whole thing. Thanks
to the strange orientation of neighbouring valleys,
the winds on the passes are often crazy strong..
