Default Where are the unicycles in Amsterdam?

I was in Amsterdam this past week, and didn't see
a single unicycle, although I saw thousands of
b*kes. (Ok, my wife saw ONE unicycle.) Is there
something wrong with unicycling in Amsterdam?
Is it too boring?

I don't know about anyone else but I've never seen another unicyclist if
it wasn't pre-arranged...

One day. One day...

Probably resting against a tree with the MUni over in the bushes, eyes
half glazed over.

Besides the seeing people that I have taught how to ride, except for
circuses, in a city of 4.3 million people, I have only seen other
unicyclists 3 times in my 35 years of riding, and each time, I wasn't on my
unicycle.

I knwo there is this school in the USA, where every student has to ride a
unicycle. I can't remember where in the States, or the name of the school,
but the idea was it taught them discipline and hard work pays off.
I saw it on a TV program. They rode to school, rode to class in the halls.
It looked like one fun place.

But it is very rare to see a unicyclist. That is why we get the stares,
cause automobiles to crash by drivers looking too long at us. make children
shout out in glee, andf make adults say the stupidest comments, thinking
they are original. Like "What happened to the other half or your bike?",
"Hey you lost a wheel", "How do you do that?", "Where did you learn to do
that?", "is that seat post up your ass?" you know the usual.

Sem Abrahams, when showing me around Amsterdam in 1983, told me how to
spot the tourists. They're the ones looking up at the buildings (or for
unicyclists). The locals are all looking down, for the many colorful
"droppings" on the sidewalks.

I don't think we unicycled in Amsterdam either, but I rode a lot in
Utrecht, and around the Abrahams' neighborhood. Even a ride on one of
those 43" air tire big wheels, with 4" cranks! Not good on hills of any
size...
