No, that's not it.

Study your history and you'll find that after the early 1900s bike boom,
cycling has culturally taken the status of a "play" activity in the US,
whereas in much of the rest of the world, the bike has been and remains a
vehicle.


PLEASE!!!! Take this thread out of the rec.bicycles.rides newsgroup!
It belongs in .soc and .misc, but not .rides.
