Tiredness and body aches are signs that your body is raising an immune response and generating lots of lovely antibodies. If I feel like **** after I get mine, Im going to rejoice. That's what I've read and seems to be the conventional wisdom. As we get older, the immune system is weaker resulting an a less spectacular response and less antibodies. As I understand it (possibly wrong), the first shot teaches the immune system how to handle the virus, while the 2nd shot produces the bulk of the antibodies. After the second shot, you should have a stronger immune response, since your body has seen those intruders before and this time, they arent standing around asking questions. Agreed. Jeff, the problem is that MOST older people in good physical shape have an immune system nearly as strong as a 40 year old. The results of this is that when you get the first shot and wait for more than the prescribed period you immune system generates antibodies to the 95% or higher levels. Then the second shot appears as if you are being attacked by the virus and you get the extreme fatigue of your body fighting off a perceived infection. https://medlineplus.gov/ency/article/004008.htm "as you grow older, your immune system does not work as well. " https://www.merckmanuals.com/home/im...-immune-system "As people age, the immune system becomes less effective in the following ways:" Most of these vaccines do not and never did need the two shot system and it was silly to do that simply for bragging rights. This is why Johnson and Johnson isn't having any of the foolishness. -- Cheers, John B. |
