Mr Seaton & I read that as 'asshole driver tried to kill
bicyclist' which became newsy when said cyclist chose not to
turn the other cheek.

Then again, I wasn't there.

When i had a handlebar basket, one accessory I caaried I had was a broken
off length of car muffle heavy with some baffle device. I found it very
handy to hit car tops or out stretched hands.

"Just rubbish I picked up off the road constable" whereas carrying a tyre
iron might be called "going equipped"
