Broome cyclist hit by car dies 21st February 2007, 7:00 WST A cyclist has died in Broome when he was hit by a car in the early hours of this morning. Police spokeswoman Ros Weatherall said the man and his two friends had been at a local hotel and were returning to their units about 1.45am. Two of the men were travelling in a car, while their friend was riding a bike along Milner Road, when the car allegedly struck the man. Ms Weatherall said it was not yet clear why the car had hit the man and police were still investigating the incident. A St John Ambulance spokesman said its officers were called to incident and arrived about 2am to find the man trapped under the car. Police are still to formally identify the man and they have not released his age or name. The death brings the State's road toll to 43. |

The death brings the State's road toll to 43. ouch....and very sad (again) and regrettably ...sounds very similar to SA...ughh! the trauma of this between aquaintenances, family and friends is a lifetime sadness for the survivors and all who are close to those involved,..... and even though that trauma is so real ,it hammers home just how callous are those who having killed someone they *don't* know, still won't acknowledge they did anything wrong and fight the system forever to get off charges of drunkeness and dangerous driving...( a certain Royal Commission comes to mind...along with a few other cases recently...too many , sadly) -- rooman |
