Broome cyclist hit by car dies
21st February 2007, 7:00 WST

A cyclist has died in Broome when he was hit by a car in the early
hours of this morning.

Police spokeswoman Ros Weatherall said the man and his two friends had
been at a local hotel and were returning to their units about 1.45am.

Two of the men were travelling in a car, while their friend was riding
a bike along Milner Road, when the car allegedly struck the man.

Ms Weatherall said it was not yet clear why the car had hit the man
and police were still investigating the incident.

A St John Ambulance spokesman said its officers were called to
incident and arrived about 2am to find the man trapped under the car.

Police are still to formally identify the man and they have not
released his age or name.

The death brings the State's road toll to 43.

ouch....and very sad (again) and regrettably ...sounds very similar to
SA...ughh!

the trauma of this between aquaintenances, family and friends is a
lifetime sadness for the survivors and all who are close to those
involved,.....

and even though that trauma is so real ,it hammers home just how
callous are those who having killed someone they *don't* know, still
won't acknowledge they did anything wrong and fight the system forever
to get off charges of drunkeness and dangerous driving...( a certain
Royal Commission comes to mind...along with a few other cases
recently...too many , sadly)
