The Yarra Council Bicycle Advisory Committee is holding a ride tomorro
morn, nice early 9am start

Great way to start World Environment Day...the ride is also going pas
Victoria Crescent/Gipps, so, if we've got time, the ride may stop an
look at the steps et al on Collins Bridge. Hopefully Richard will be o
the ride if you want to chat to him

If you want to be kept up to date with cycling issues in Yarra, pleas
join the YarraBUG email discussion list, yarrabug

Also contact Richard Smithers, Yarra Council Transport Planner, if yo
are interested in participating in the Bicycle Advisory Commitee (BAC)

Other Yarra Bicycle Users Group stuff, Your favourite Yarra bike route
- tell us your favourite bike routes in Yarra. Do you have a preferre
commute that avoids main roads or is a interesting short-cut? Pleas
email the friendly YarraBUG moderators at,yarrabug

BAC - On Tour Meet up with us@Victoria Bridge, further details fro
David (see below), we've included Victoria Bridge at the beginning
since BoroondaraBUG had concerns about approaches/ramps to the bridge

Meet in car park, north side of Victoria Street opposite River BLV
Melways 2H G2

This is the new traffic light sequence in Victoria Street approx 40
meters East of Burnley Street. We will look at concerns raised th
Victoria Bridge. Then ride up Victoria to Johnson Street and cut throug
to the corner of Highett and Church streets and look the new wor
completed at this intersection

We then ride North along Church Street and look at the Elizabeth stree
intersection followed by the Victoria and Church Street intersection. W
would then continue North along Murray, Albert, Victoria Crescent an
turn into Nicholson Street and look at the works that have been don
there with a close look at the corner of Nicholson and Johnston Streets
(Removal of a car turn lane)

We could then look at traveling along Trennery Crescent and look a
access to the North side of Freeway and I am open to suggestions on wha
you would like to look at in Clifton Hill

In riding terms about 2 hours and we could stop for coffee along th
way

Wow! knew that the Gipps St thing would already be covered b
you, cfsmt

been a part of Boroondara BUG for the last 6 months. Pity i missed you
ride yesterday but me thinks I might tag along to your next BUG meetin
as you seem very proactive and organise

As I seem to play half of each BU meeting playing 'catchup' and much t
learn, the more exposure for me to all this the better, me think

PS my personal 'C of Yarra' commute takes me across the fairfiel
pipeline bridge, past fairfield Hospital and along the path to digh
falls and then up to the carpark and onto Trennery (recently ne
path!). Then around VicPark (stir up any Pies players who my b
wandering into the ground ) and then go under the railway lin
underpass/walkway near the station and come up to the lights a
HoddleSt. Cross over and then West along the 'K' roads (Keane an
another i cant remember) all the way thru to Napier and then South t
Gertrude, carlton gardens and CBD. All that means my 21km commute i
approx 14km not on road!!

Hi, Rosemary from BBUG was at the BAC ride. She is a absolute treasure
knows lots of local cycling knowledge and very articulate. 18 cyclist
attended the ride, plus two Yarra Council councillors, hopefully ther
will be a report on the YarraBUG list soon

The wheels of progress are slowly turning for cyclists access issue
with Collins Bridge/the chinese snakes and ladders ramp

The land titles issues with taking the bike path along to Flockhar
Reserve are problematic, but discussions ARE happening. Just don't hol
your breath....see news item in recent BV mag (retitled "Ride On", hmm
what you do think?) :
