Default Numbers of cyclists remains the same

There has not actually been any increase in the number of cyclists on
Britain's roads over the last two years.

So an insignificant minority remains, an insignificant minority.

The research is accurate.

"Many people barely recognise the bicycle as a
legitimate mode of transport; it is either a toy for children or a
vehicle fit only for the poor and/or strange," Dave Horton, of Lancaster
University, wrote in an interim assessment of the Understanding Walking
and Cycling study. "For them, cycling is a bit embarrassing, they fail
to see its purpose, and have no interest in integrating it into their
lives, certainly on a regular basis."

Possibly, it is also possible it is inaccurate and that numbers have
probably fallen. Sport England depend upon handouts which depend upon
them appearing to achieve results. They are not know for their
independence. If the published survey shows they are not earning
their handouts the real figures are probably pretty dire.

The small Mintel survey showing " 40 percent of the UK population was
cycling at least one a month" was plainly risible.
