Coming up the hill into Gembrook, my first magpie attack of the season
occured this morning. Must be August.

I really wish you didn't post that! I had been riding around blissfully
unaware that it was that time of year again. I just went for my
lunchtime ride (after reading the above this morning) and found myself
baulking at every shadow :-)

I hate magpies at this time of year - there is _no_ way from my house to
the local bike path without going past at least one nest.

If it makes you feel any better, this is a particularly notorious bird
-- I haven't seen any others at it yet. And the first swoops were a bit
on the perfunctory side. Wait until the eggs have hatched.

Forewarned is forearmed...

Heading up over the top of a long unpleasant hill on lap one of
handicap race on Sat arvo and next thing I know, I don't have to worry
about the guys running me down from behind cos there's a bloody maggie
swooping me, teeth bared an' all!! I am sure I heard laughter from
lower down the hill ....
