Default Herat Rate Monitor

I've started searching for a heart rate monitor/bike computer that would
attach the speed sensor to the rear wheel. So far, I've come across the
Polar S520 that will allow this due to being wireless. But I really like
the specs and cost of the cateye msc-3dx but I'm not sure if it can be
hooked up to the rear wheel.

Any suggestions?
thx

The Vetta V100HR wireless has done well for me.
I've seen them on eBay around $100-140.

Well let's be openeyed about this. The Polar S520 may and may not be able to
pick up from your rear wheel. My S720i wouldn't but when I brought my whole
setup down to Ploar and stuck it on their testbike it would. But again not
when I got back home.
Yes I have the speedsensor set at the strongest setting and new batteries.

I can't say anything about the Cateye but before buying anything on the
basis of it being wireless make sure it also has sufficient range!

As I recall Polar requires you to mount the sensor on the front wheel
for it to be in range unless of course you want to mount the display on
your seatpost:-)

I haven't thought about any incompatibilty issues as far as mounting goes.
I'll keep it in mind.
Thanks

I wasn't talking about incompatibility. I was talking range issues just like
Bruno was.
The strange thing was that the range differed a little from installation to
installation. Maybe my bike being carbon and Polars bike being steel made a
difference as the steel may have had an antenna effect.
Today I have bought the Polar Power Option and have everything wired from
the rear wheel, Power, speed and cadence.

They're on sale regularly for less than that.
I got mine from StuporGo last year for $75
(and then got spammed mercilessly, but that's
another story).

Use qbike.com to find a current deal.

My V100HR doesn't read HR accurately when its cold out, but
it's on a road bike (more wind) and I have been wearing lighter
jackets this winter.

All wireless units are designed to xmit from the front wheel, close
to the receiver. If you want to go from the rear you will need
a wired unit with an extra long wire.

I was thinking of using my 720i on my mountain bike ( have it on Road bike
now).
Do you have trouble with the cadence unit or speed sensor getting wrecked or
knocked out of alignment by the relatively much larger impacts of mountain
biking ?
