Default OT? Was the Character "Cannibal" based on Mercks?

I've enjoyed the film American Flyers many times and have often shown
it to others. I wonder though, was the character Cannibal based on
Eddy Mercks who in real life was referred to as The Cannibal? Just
wondering after watching the film yey again and seeing the cameo of
Mercks in it.

Along the same subject. Was Mercks referred to as The Cnnibal because
of the way he chewed up the competition during races?

Cheers

Yep. Eddy Merckx had a cameo in American Flyers. BTW, it's customary
when referring to American Flyers to make a complimentary remark about
Alexandra Paul's pert breasts. They were two of the high points in
the movie and stole at least one scene.

Nope. After winning a race he'd leap on the nearest person and suck
the blood out of their neck and eat their heart. Now that function is
WADA sanctioned and performed by ghouls they call vampires.

Cannibal I could live with, but that Hinault guy...what did they call
him? Beaver or Badger or something like that. That would be a hard
one to live down.

I have my hands full with correcting punctuation, pointing out
grammatical errors and utilizing erudite verbiage. Do your part.
Thanks.

American Nightmare...? I didn't know about that one, but Alexandra
Paul naked isn't one of my nightmares.

Dumbasses only ONE group of athletes deserve the term "cannibal" and
they were all rugby players.
