IOW, having two of the best (Gordon, especially, on the Infineon road
course) in all likelihood come up through the field in the early part
of the race is both (opinion) a fitting penalty, in more ways than
one, and is sure to provide additional interest for spectators.

Compare to letting them race, having one win the race, do the trophy/
prize money presentation, etc. then hours or days later be "found
positive" (by scurrilous and illegal leaking of info, first, of
course), starting embarrassing public (legal) proceedings (that last,
say, two years), while one of the stars of the sport has his name
forever blackened, even if he someplace along the line is exonerated,
while losing a whole lot of earning opportunities for him and his
team, which may well be forced to disband. And, of course, the team
sponsors quit the sport forever.

Corn pone and fried chicken must be brain food, is all I can figure.
