Missing brake bits from Flying Pigeon bicycle

My son's made in mainland China Flying Pigeon ("The All-Steel Bicycle") is missing some of the front brake bits. "mainland China"? With what other China could that be mistaken? Might that be where the recent Olympic Games were held? Um, don't you know any recent Chinese history? There can be good reason for explicitly stating the "mainland" bit. If there can, you might explain what that reason is. The term strikes me as an anachronism with subtle derision. Jobst Brandt |

Most bicycle manufacturing has moved from Free China to Red China. Too bad it is so hard to tell from websites what the country of origin is for a particular bicycle. -- Tom Sherman - Holstein-Friesland Bovinia “Mary had a little lamb / And when she saw it sicken / She shipped it off to Packingtown / And now it’s labeled chicken.” |

I don't know how old this post is, but my shop in Los Angeles sells
the tires and tubes you'll need for your son's Flying Pigeon bicycle. We imported several hundred of these bikes, and have some spare parts in abundance (others, not so much). I have been having a tough time figuring out if the brakes on these bikes are Phillips-type brakes or some other side screw fastening type. If you're looking for quality brake blocks, the Welsh company Fibrax still makes some good brake blocks for old roadsters. |

We imported several hundred of these bikes, and have some spare parts in abundance (others, not so much). When I was at Interbike, the Flying Pigeon people at the show knew nothing about your shop. They were pushing their electric bikes (along with probably twenty other companies from China). Kudos to your shop for importing the classic Flying Pigeon models! If I get down to L.A. I'm going to buy one if you have any left. Is the Flying Pigeon bicycle a rebranded one of these Hero Royal bikes: http://www.herocycles.com/powerzone.php I saw a Hero in the flesh last week and they seemed very similar. regards, 20cents |
