Default Tubeless tyres

I received a newsletter from an Australian online bicycle shop
describing the procedure for converting a tubed tyre and rim into a
tubeless system and saying how easy it is using a kit containing rim
strip, valve and sealant. They didn't mention any brand names but they
may have been thinking of the Stans No-tubes system which is supposed to
work with many sorts of tyres and rims.
I got to thinking about it and some online research found lots of
variations, including "ghetto" methods of sealing the rim using Gorilla
duct tape or an inner tube a couple of sizes too small s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d
to fit down into the rim well and seal the holes.

My cycling is confined to paved roads, cycle paths and bits of fairly
smooth unpaved road and trail. My bikes have tyres no narrower than 38mm
in both 559 and 700c.

I'm thinking of converting one bike just to see what it is like. The
bike currently has 1.75x559 Schwalbe Marathon Plus on Velocity Synergy
rims 23mm wide which would suit one of the Stans No-tubes kits.

I find the Schwalbe tyres to be impressively puncture resistant but
rather dead feeling. One of my bikes with Panaracer Pasela's feels much
more lively and free-rolling. I'm wondering whether a tyre other than a
Marathon run tubelessly with sealant would bring me greater resistance
to flatting combined with a better feel.

I've tried tyre-liners, Slime tubes and ultra heavy thornproof tubes in
the past and have no wish to go back there.

Has anyone here run tyres tubelessly with road-type treads in road-type
service? What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages?

what does tube weigh ?

what does your wallet weigh minus the experiment costs ?

what does your pet rock weigh ?

upkeep costs for rock ?

what are the benefits for the kit producer ?

the Pasela are a lively bunch...with or without.

go thru Conti Urban n see if there's a Pasela upgrade...

can the minus tube weight sub into a better Urban tuber ?

I dunno. You tellus.
