Is this a known/accepted method for attaching a front derailleur?
Excuse my ignorance, but is this a known/accepted method for attaching a
front derailleur? Is it structurally sound? Please see http://tinyurl.com/84xkk Thanks! Basjan |

Basjan The link shows an older front derailleur attached to the seat tube using a pair of rivets instead of the band around the tube. The latter is the usual setup for bikes of that era. These days many bikes have a fitting either brazed, welded or glued to the frame. The rivetting, if done properly, is perfectly adequate. A simple test would be to attempt to wiggle it. If it moves at all relative to the frame, it fails. -- Ted Bennett |
