In technical subjects, on which there is broad consensus among people
skilled and trained in that field of knowledge, when someone says
something that contradicts that consensus so broadly, the onus is on
them to demonstrate that they are right. And their lack of bona fides
is a valid issue.

It's particularly the case when what they say or write is so obviously
flawed.
