Bozeman Mountain biker hospitalized

A Bozeman man was hospitalized after crashing his mountain bike on the
Bozeman Creek trail Thursday evening.

The biker, whose name was not released, crashed about three miles from
the trailhead, according to a press release from the Gallatin County
Sheriff's office.

Officials from the Gallatin County sheriff's search and rescue, Rae
Sourdough Fire Department and AMR ambulance service responded to the
scene.

Sheriff's deputies opened the gate at the trailhead, allowing search
and rescue personnel to transport the ambulance crew up the trail to
the patient.

Emergency responders found a 62-year-old Bozeman man with a head
injury about two-and-a-half miles up the trail. He was transported
back to the trailhead by a search and rescue vehicle and transported
to Bozeman Deaconess Hospital by AMR.

The man arrived at the hospital within 90 minutes of the 911 call
which came in around 5:00 p.m. Thursday, from another person on the
trail, who had to go down the road to find a phone.

The biker was wearing a helmet.
