Default Ode to A Poseur

I think that I shall never like
A poem as much as my new bike.
Carbon fiber, boutique brand;
Set me back five thousand grand.

Ceramic bearings, bling bling wheels,
Much better than my old bike feels.
My problem now: to show true grit;
Lose ten pounds and live up to it.

Mind if I print that out and tape it to my stem?

$5,000,000.00 - a bit spendy even for an overweight poseur's bike.

To keep the rhyme while retaining a plausibly absurd number, perhaps:

Set me back a good five grand.

That really seems like an adequately overly high price for a bike.

Good point.

How about:

"Set me back AT LEAST five grand" ?

That implies that le poseur doesn't know the actual cost. How about
'Set me back a sweet nine grand' ? Five is becoming the old two
grand.

Mebbe he was just being modest. (This would not be very poseur like,
however.)

Touche! I LIKE it!

Because to poseur, it has to be LIGHTER than the UCI 15 lb. minimum to
be cool enough, and those Lew Wheels are spendy.

This is now a collaborative rsa Ode.

Set me back eleven grand

Or "seventeen", "twenty nine". Or going the way the subject of that poem
wouldn't: "one point five", "almost a".
