Default Old Age Ouch

So I'm out on my coastal bike ride today, and decide to add enough
miles to equal my years (upcoming birthday). Heading south from
Carlsbad, I chat with a cute young woman roadie out for a 30-miler.

I mention I'm doing a birthday ride, but won't say how many miles/
years it is. Without skipping a beat, she says, "You're gonna be out
here all day."

Sigh.

OUCH!

Something to shoot for, for both of us:

There's a man in our bike club who led a birthday ride for years --
topping out at 79 miles on his 79th birthday.

On his 80th, he switched to 80 kilometers.

Yeah. That's another big difference between bicycling and golf.

As the years go by, golfers find it easier to play their age...

Well, the last time I did an MS150 ride, the oldest rider was
88 years old. He finished it on an upright three speed. It was
quite inspirational actually.

Sigh.

You'd have to be nuts to quote Jesse Jackson...
