Default Cycle thefts - the real story

Turns out the tosser Simple Simon lives up to his name yet again.

Their has apparently been a dramatic increase in cycle thefts in the
Medway Towns, but not, as Simple would claim, because cycling has become
more popular.

Kent Police raided several scrapyards & found that the bikes were being
nicked only for their scrap metal value!

Which just goes to show how cyclists are regarded by the public.

It's not the "public" that are stealing bikes. The public is very much
against the sealing the of bikes or any other personal / public
possession. That why the public have laws against theft.

It a few very low life's. The sort of low life that steals railway
signaling cable putting the lives of hundreds of passengers at risk.
The sort of low life that steals phone lines that are vital for those
parts of the public that don't have mobile phones to contact the
emergency services for medial help, like the elderly.

The handymoron seems to have misunderstood: the suggestion was not that
the thefts were intended to allow the pikeys concerned to join the
cycling boom, but that the increased number of bikes made bike theft an
attractive career choice for said pikeys.

I'd like to see their faces when told that carbon fibre cannot be
melted down for scrap :-)

A case in point from last month.

"A BOY of 16 was killed by a 275,000 volt cable at an electricity
substation in Leeds at the weekend.Officials blamed the incident on an
attempt to steal cable. The victim is thought to have been with three
youths at a CE Electric UK sub-station off Skelton Grange Road in the
Stourton district.

His body was found by a security guard on Sunday afternoon during a
routine patrol introduced after a spate of cable thefts from sub-
stations. CE Electric said the teenager had apparently been tampering
with underground cables at a 275,000 to 132,000 volt “bulk supply
point” next to a National Grid facility.

Geoff Earl, the firm’s head of safety, health and environment said:
“It is believed that the youth died after attempting to steal copper
components from our network. The circumstances of the incident have
had devastating consequences for his family who now have to come to
terms with this tragedy. “As a company, on average, we are dealing
with four incidents of metal theft on a daily basis. We cannot stress
enough how dangerous it is to tamper with electrical equipment on the
network.

Which just goes to show how cyclists are regarded by the public.

Dream on Simple Simon.

I just despair at the lack of imagination.

Oh, and being insulted by someone thick enough to ride a push bike
doesn't really count - they only do so because they have run out of
arguments - then they use a kill file - the ultimate admission of defeat.

60 years old as well.
When will he grow up and act like a mature member of the human race,
instead of a cowardly juvenile thug?
