---snip---

Almost impossible to refute? It would actually be quite easy to refute the
truth of what I said. Simply point to all the mass arrests and jailings of
dissidents, the burnings in effigy, and the public lynchings of all those
"traitors" one could reasonably expect to be occurring. There aren't any though
because whether you believe it or not most Americans- the overwhelming majority
of Americans as a matter of fact- don't consider unpopular dissent to equal
treason.

The radio waves are filled with traitor accusations, Fox "News" is
the number one cable news station. More than a handful of loonies
are tuning in those programs, making the media execs very happy, and
chilling the public dialog.

You know full well that high viewer/listener ratings do not mean people believe
in or agree with what's being shown or said. If they did those shows would not
go out of their way to try to generate controversy as they and their producers
cheerfully admit they do. As for any chilling of public dialogue caused by
unkind words, maybe sometimes some people are cowed by public opinion but
should you or I really care if some spineless jellyfish is afraid to voice
their opinion because someone may call them a name? As I said, it's not as if
dissenters are being imprisoned, burned in effigy, or lynched. Heck, you just
accused me of using "weasel words". That's a *very* offensive thing to say but
it hasn't chilled our public dialogue here, now has it?

As is living in a country where dissent gets you "denounced as a traitor".
This was the original claim concerning the US versus the UK.

Individuals can say whatever they want. I'd be loath to characterize
a nation based on it.

Lefties always seem to portray anyone with a pro-war bumper sticker
or flag on their car as unthinking, easily manipulated, red neck
types incapable of thinking for themselves and in need of education.

So what?

Sorry, I didn't think "weasel words" would seem offensive to the
vast majority of readers. It's a commonly used term these days.
Politicians use "weasel words" to give themselves "wiggle room".

As to the rest of the argument, I've lost interest. I think I'll go
for a ride.

Now you're grouping him with politicians, which might be even more
offensive Grin.

I hadn't thought of that. Now I'm doubly sorry! VBG

Bragging about going for a ride is just plain mean since it didn't
even reach 20 deg F here today.
You *******. g

I got my payback. 42F, with condensing fog, 50' visibility,
crosswinds, and drizzle. 20F, clear and dry sounds kind of pleasant
in comparison.

Try
www.goatse.cx

"The administrator of the .cx TLD has suddenly and without warning suspended
the domain name goatse.cx. The infamous picture has been replaced by a
