Default campag shifters

Hi,
I had an accident this morning that wrecked my left shifter - a Campag 2003
Centaur 10 Speed (although the left one is for the front mech). The brake
handle is completely wrecked so there is no chance of a repair. If I buy a
new shifter, which will presumably be form the 2007 range will this work as
a replacement?
THanks, Steve

The 2007 left Ergos have a "Quick Shift" design and are supposed to be used
with the new QS front mechs.

But there's loads of 2006 and earlier stock left. If ordering now you're
unlikely to get 2007 stuff unless the description specifically says "2007".
You could also order just the parts required to rebuild your shifter from
http://www.italiancycleproducts.co.uk/ .

I have a question myself:

Can you only shift up (to smaller sprockets) one gear at a time with the
2007 right-hand Centaur and Veloce Ergos? Or is it two at a time? I know
it's not more than two like the current ones allow.

Thanks Pete. So you reckon a 2006 front shifter should do the trick?
Looking on various websites, it seems that they only sell both shifters in a
pack, not each individually !! Rip off buggers !! I;ll check out the
website you mention.

Yes, it's not at all fussy about what mech is used. Even a $himaNO mech
would work.

Bad, innit.

Might possibly work out cheaper to buy new complete set from the cheapest
source and flog what's not needed on eBay. From www.cyclingbargains.com or
www.dotbike.com it'll include a set of cables (and stops?) as well, worth
fifteen quid alone.

Yes, but all components of a Campag shifter are available as spares, and
are remarkably inexpensive; so you can just get the spare parts you need
and rebuild it. Campagnolo service on 01332 371176.

Are you sure it is unable to be fixed?
Campy sell all the parts individually, so it should be fixable.
This link is for the pdf file of spare parts for 2003:
http://www.campagnolo.com/pdf/spares03_A.pdf

The cost of parts may add up to more than the cost of a pair of Mirage
levers if you sell on the right lever - you can buy a pair of Mirage
shifters for £50 from Parker International. You then sell the right
shifter for £25-35. So long as it is a 2 ring front chainset, it'll be
fine.
Alan.

Actually it'll work with a triple as well, but the Mirage has black plastic
levers so it won't visually match Steve's right-hand Centaur Ergo.

Note. Parker's Ergos don't include cables.
