Driver cleared of killing Sunderland cyclist is fined £400 for ploughing into
him

The jury no doubt concluded on the evidence that the collision would or may
have occurred in any event, had you slowed to an appropriate speed.

================================================== ===========================

Mr Coates’ family have said they may now take the case to the civil courts -
well that will bring him back won't it.

Judge Sloan told him: "The Highway Code makes clear at the very least
you should have slowed, you should have braked at the moment you were
dazzled by the sun but you didn't, you carried on as before."

Let's say YOU had a darling son (call him Ben if you like) who was hit
by a driver and killed; and the courts determined that the driver
should have done something that might very well have allowed your
little Benjamin to live even though struck by the at-fault driver. 400
quid for a death might well strike you as a little too little to pay.

And to provide you with a more concrete concern, your post above is
perilously close to the sort of thing that others have posted about
other unfortunate events which for one reason or another became
high-profile; and those posters have come to regret their actions: you
err if you think that usenet anonymity is real anonymity.

When the media refer to internet trolls they aren't refering to trolls
but people who speculate where Gerry McCann hid the body.

"The highway code is just a set of rules with no legal basis that can
be ignored" - the usual psycholist suspects

True.

That's why judgments on such matters have to be made impartially, as I
am sure you will agree.
