In Norway I got "caught" for speeding near my house. I saw the cops
hiding in the bushes on my way out, so I gave it all I had on the way
back in the hopes of them radaring me. They did, and yelled "Good job!
53 km/h!" as I passed.

I've tried on a couple of occasions to provoke a speeding ticket by
passing cop cars on descents while over the speed limit. I thought it
would make a great trophy. The cops never seemed to take any notice.

Awww, that's too bad. If I managed a speeding ticket, I'd probably
frame it and display it proudly. Cops here don't take much notice
either...although I would be pretty ****ed if I got a 'rolling stop' or
a 'running a red' ticket. FWIW, I only run reds at traffic-activated
lights, and only when there's NO traffic around. I figure I've got an
excuse if a cop does pull me over for it. As for stop signs, most of
my right-hand turns are rolling, but I generally do stop under other
conditions.

Care to share? What did you receive them for? Failure to yield? Red light
running? Speeding? ;-)

I am NOT going to say that I've never received a ticket. That would
surely be tempting the gods.

I got one when I swept around a corner onto a main street right in
front of 2 cops on mtbs. One of them had a funny horn thing he sounded
for me to stop, which I did. I forget what the actual citation was. I
pleaded innocent and sent it to trial. The cop failed to show and I got
off.

Another one in Toronto, when I had to go north up a small side street;
there was a large truck parked in front of a one way sign, there were 3
cops in a minivan parked on the right side of the street on the
sidewalk facing south. They stopped me as I rode by, pointed out the
sign and gave me a ticket for wrong way. I took it to court, pleaded
innocent as the truck blocked view of the sign, and the cop, Staff
Sgt.Macintosh lied saying there was no truck so I got convicted with a
small sign.

Another time at night a patrol car was driving very slowly in front of
me in the left hand lane; after a few minutes I decided to go around
the car when there was no oncoming traffic. They pulled up alongside
yelling obsenities for me to pull over. The cop riding shotgun started
to write me up when his partner told him they have to go so I got a
quick warning and that was that.

Hey, wait a minute... Where's Baka? Surely he's been busted for
speeding on his 58/11 geared Huffy... 75 in a 40 MPH zone, perhaps?
Oh, and that would be /uphill/.

He doesn't have time to post, he's practicing 150 mph wheelies on his
new motorcycle.

In Germany I was once stopped at a red light in a construction zone. Once
the oncoming traffic had cleared I started riding even though the light was
still red (and couldn't see the other end, so I was just guessing that the
ocomoing traffic was done). I had turned around once to check who is behind
me (one car) but didn't check again when I started riding. So later I
noticed that a second car had pulled up. A cop. They pulled me over afterb
the construction and gave me a ticket.
I also was riding in the Basque Country once in a hilly area where there
were downhills into town. They had lights that would get triggered and turn
red when the speed was over 50kph (31mph). I was faster on two occassions.
One time it didn't trigger the light and one time it did. I didn't stop for
that red light (there was no cross-street, its only purpose was to slow down
traffic).

Oh, and Jan Ullrich apparently got a ticket in Berlin once for speeding...

I know a few people in Vancouver who've gotten tickets for not
wearing a helmet. The cops go on a MHL ticketing rampage for about a
week per year.

I almost got a speeding ticket at the bottom of a hill I liked to ride.
There was a cop sitting there and he was just looking for the usual cars
not paying attention and I blasted past him at about 35, not even
noticing him. He says he got me on radar at 35 and could write me a
speeding ticket. The only reason the discussion got that far was that he
pulled up to a stop sign and did a full stop when he came up and stopped
next to me. He rolled down the passenger window and told me I had been
speeding, but he also said that he wasn't even going to think about
writing me a ticket because of trying to explain it to his captain. He
gave me the usual about it being a residential area, etc., and then I
asked him if he had ever tried it and he said no. I told him to borrow a
bike and try it and he would know. I don't know if I made a convert or
not but I did go past him a few more times that year and he just waved.
I think that counts as a good turnout.
