Per datakoll:
http://query.nytimes.com/search/site...+and+bicycling

"...Bike seats are designed in such a way that body weight
typically rests on the nose of the seat..."

Seems like a gross mis-statement to me. Replace " .. are
designed ..." with "...can be adjusted ..." and it's correct.

I would hope you are not an anti-Semite, so why use such a
subject line?

I didn't read the material. Obvously, if a cycle writer writes abt weight on the nose something else is afoot.

not to divert but why would you believe I'm an anti-semite ?

I'm passing info generated in NYC/NYT

Heebe is a well known offensive anti-semitic slur.

Yup. He's used it several times here before, and
he's been reminded that it's a slur several times.

Appealing to someone's sense of decency works to
the extent that they have one.

Most of the Jews in NYC are Ashkenazi, and are of Khazarian (what is now
southern Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, etc) origin, and not Semitic
(Arab) Jews.

Funny thing is in Israel, the Ashkenazi discriminate against the Arab
Jews, and even more so against the sub-Saharan Ethiopian Jews. And
culturally, they still want to be European, and not Middle-Eastern.

Heebe is a well known offensive anti-semitic slur.

And calling all the rest of us goyim (cattle) is not a slur?

Or do you follow the modern politically correct idea that only the
majority group can be racist, jingoist, etc?

And what of the tactic of excusing every bad behavior with accusations
of racism towards those who note the behavior?

Wikipedia suggests a different etymology for goyim.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goyim

Jew is a generally accepted term. There are more than three times as
many Jews in NYC as there are in Jerusalem, or in Tel Aviv proper.
Yet if Gene were to use the term "Jewville" instead, it would probably
be construed as a slur.

In most cases, I'd say that would be because of the spirit in which
the term was used, but in this case I'd say it's more likely because
of some folks' eagerness to take offense.

Who told you such nonsense!

There are many online Hebrew-English English-Hebrew dictionaries. There
are also print dictionaries available in libraries.

If you consult any of them, you will find several Hebrew words for
cattle. None of them is "goy" (sing) nor "goyim" (pl) nor do they come
from that root.

Similarly, if you tried looking up the English translation for "goy" you
would find: gentile; nation and infidel.

Part of hasbara is editing Wikipedia.

When neighborhoods in US cities are know as "China Town" or "Little
Italy", is that also a slur?

In most cases, I'd say that would be because of the spirit in which
the term was used, but in this case I'd say it's more likely because
of some folks' eagerness to take offense.

What is interesting is how it is "racist" to notice other groups being
biased against those of white European descent.
