ball bearings fell out of my hub

I was taking the rear wheel off my bike. I removed the skewers and also everything inside the hub shell. I noticed a couple of ball bearings fell out. I put them back in but they don't seem to want to stay in their place. I don't know if something wore out already or what (It's an older bike, like early decade) and now the back wheel won't spin freely on the bike. You need to put new grease in, you can use it as a 'clue' to keep the balls in place. Clean off the old grease first. Is this wheel still usable or do I need a new hub? Impossible to say without seeing it. Tomas |
