Did you tighten up your pedal's cleat release mechanism as your old Delta cleats wore out and got thinner?

If so, you probably need to loosen that adjustment when you install new cleats or you might not be able to get your foot out of the pedal.

Sounds like a hard learned lesson.

It's quite simple, really. When you realize you can't get your foot out of the pedal, you just keep on riding until you can grab a sign post in order to stop.

Huh, no style or chutzpah to that. Just continue until you
encounter a parked Ferrari. Brake and lean against the Ferrari
as you remove your feet from the locked-in shoes.

Bitumen and concrete are tough teachers.

Default Something to remember when you ride disc wheels

Moments of forgetfulness can really ruin a ride -- although most times not in a way that causes injury. I was riding with some friends yesterday, and on our way back to town (but still a ways out), one flatted. He was riding 50mm disc wheels that he swapped on to the bike just before the ride. Regrettably, he didn't swap-in a spare tube with a long stem, nor did his pocket tool have pliers for removing the valve and installing an extension. Between the three of us, no one had a patch kit with glue that wasn't dried out. Mine was gloppy, but it didn't hold a patch. As it turned out, one of had a spare with a stem just long enough where there were enough threads showing to use my mini-clown frame pump with the screw-on hose -- but for some reason, the pump couldn't get the tire to full inflation, but it was enough for my friend to get home. Had my friend left his usual wheels on the bike, it would have been a five minute fix.
