Default Second-hand frames

So, as part of my ongoing adventures, I'm looking to scrounge up one of
those old road frames which there must be millions of out there somewhere
- but where should I be looking? The LBSes deny the very existence of
second-hand road bikes (not quite); Brick Lane [1] apparently sell only
racing frames and braze-ons are the work of Stan.

I was wondering if urc have any suggestions.

[1] The fixed gear specialist, not the extensive nicked-bike collection.

eBay.

Marlboro Ultralight, Reylolds 531c: £26 plus shipping (last November,
been riding it ever since). Raleigh Equipe, £16+shipping, made of old
gas pipe but works as a winter hack- should be riding this instead of
the good one at the moment!

Worth watching Freecycle, too, and maybe stick a card up in your LBS
asking if anyone has a frame in the shed that they'd like to move on?
Ask around your local roadie club?

Cheers,
W.

My garage. There's a Raleigh frame, um, ovalised tubes made of not
very exciting steel, built for 27 inch as opposed to 700C wheel.
complete with (I think) shonky chainset, a probably handlebars.

I'll try and get a photo tonight.

Free to a good home. Crawley, W Sussex, but I do travel a bit for
work.

Talk to your local bin men - you'll probably get 10 for £20.

Forget the equipe. Made from gas pipe, and about as brittle. I had one
of these 15 years ago, and it went through 3 broken frames and a
broken fork before Raleigh fixed it with somethng better. Readers with
long memories may remember the sorry tale of the broken bike and the
shocking incompetence of a "bike shop" near Cambridge.

Well, there's one chained outside our local Sainsburys that's been there for
a while, so obviously nobody wants it.... already stripped for you, no
handlebars, wheels, chain, etc. etc. ;-)
