Dakota Ridge trail Colorado (Mathew Winters)
Black diamond rated.
http://www.singletracks.com/trails/p...d=28&photo=158 This trail, you see to the right of this photo? If you fall, that's a 100 foot drop or more. And this photo is one small section where it isn't rocks. The rest of it is rocks, and still this narrow of which 100 to 200 foot drops. Mathew Winters is part of this trail, Mathew Winters is to the right of the road you see in the photo, and it's congruent to Dakota Ridge in that Mathew Winters is all rocks too, and Red Rocks Trail, they're all one circuit. When you master riding (clearing a section) stuff like this, it's indescribeable. It's a feeling of great conquest, in that you maximized your ability to interpret and negotiate extreme difficulty in extreme miniscule amounts of time, of which if you screw up you get severely hurt. Ride-A-Lot has made it clear he's not a extremist, or a free-styler, but he isn't getting the satisfaction of confidence & mastery of his psyche by continuing to avoid attempting trails like Dakota Ridge/Mathew Winters. He said he did HorseThief Trail in Colorado, that is compareable to Dakota Ridge, but he said he'd never do it again. Bad attitude Ridey!! As I said, once you master the tool (the bike), and you master your perception & interpretive skills, the exhilleration of MTBing is indescribeable joy. And it's free aside from the hardware. That's what makes it better than skiing, although skiing rocks!! Those 3 foot wide trails with a 200 foot drop to the side of it as in the picture above, is pretty damn scary though. Hopefully I can get Mike Portnoy up here and throw him off the side, MUHWAHAHAHAHA...!! |
