I made a hitch using quick-connect air connector. The male end is on a "universal joint" at the rear axle and the socket is on the trailer hitch. I pull a converted Burley kid hauler with an aluminum box and 3 12 volt batteries behind my e-bike for long range.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ photo ? http://goo.gl/3dsaHr know muh squirrel story ? WELL, I wuz down Los Banos home to wild Cal ground squirrels and Mexican mink. So I wuz cleaning uh debris from muh van n this squirrel wanders down the dirt..I am at the reservoir. Squirrel pulls up some ground at truck's rear n meditates the lake for 1o-15 minutes. I introduce muhself and ask the squirrel if he was thrown out as Mr Squirrel seemed depressed. Squirrel put his paws over his ears. |

As Andy pointed out, there are about a thousand better ways to ask the question, and I was thinking rain rather than dog ****, but yes, I have been thinking of protection from schmutz kicked up by the towing bike. Fenders are a must on the towing bike, and besides that, I'm considering a small mudflap on the tow bar to catch anything that gets past the rear fender. I rode the Trail of the Coeur d'Alanes in Idaho a few years back and there was a section that we dubbed "Bird**** Alley". Imagine a pristine ribbon of asphalt that just happens to be the most convenient place for the nearby birds to eat fish from the lake. Every 20 feet you had to swerve to avoid either fish guts or bird ****. I had it fairly easy (diamond frame touring bike with fenders), but my buddy on the recumbent trike with no fenders was having a hell of a time as he had to calculate three clean lines through the schmutz. |
