Or rather feet. I just got finished lacing on a new pair of Velocity
(Velo City?) rims fo my tourer. I used the old hubs, but bought new DT
14g (2.0mm) stainless spokes/nipples (they're 80¢/spoke now! 8-3O ).

Anybody else here have any experience with these rims? They look well
designed/made, they certainly went together real nice. I was able to get
the finished wheels true too within +/- .002 inches in all directions,
that's the closest I've gotten to perfect ever!

My experience with Velocity rims is that they are the most
consistently uniform of any rims available. They are probably the
most consistent rims ever available, really. I recommend them to
anyone who wants to try his hand at wheelbuilding for the first time--
they're not cheap, but they could save you some expensive and
character-building lessons.

Mavic are the next most uniform rims, but in my observation are by far
the most likely to deliver a major letdown while your cherished wheels
are still young. My suggestion is, well, don't do it.

On the other end of the scale are Weinmann rims, in my personal
observation. They always seem to have issues, but they are so cheap
that their inconsistency offers a fiduciary reward for wheelbuilding
expertise.
