Default Total Capacity

I am looking for a dura ace triple derailure. Could someone please
explain the meaning of total capacity, such as the Total Capacity 38T.

Thanks
David

Total takeup capacity, ie between the chain nearly straight and the
derailer wrapped around it and the chain nearly slack with the derailer
nearly touching the cogs. Needed total capacity is the difference between
your large and small chainrings plus the difference between large and
small cogs.

Total capacity = [big chainring - little chainring] + [big cog -
little cog]
