Default Reelight SL-120

I'm posting this in the hopes it might prove useful for commuters using
Reelight SL-120s. I mounted a pair of these lights a couple months ago as
supplementary lighting on my commuter bike. While the front light
continued to blink merrily after stopping for several minutes the rear
light would quit within 15 seconds. The vendor quickly sent me a
replacement rear light. Alas, it performed in the same way.

I really wanted the rear light to continue to perform when stopped at
stoplights, etc. Now having an extra unit, I opened up my original light.
It was obvious which was the capacitor responsible for at stop operation.
I removed it and replace it with a Cooper-Busmann super capacitor, model
KR-5RV224-R. This has a capacitance of .22, 5.5 volts.

If you choose to do this, be sure to observe the correct polarity.
Basically the negative, marked with black triangle, faces outboard upon
mounting.

After sealing the unit back up and mounting it I now have a rear light
that blinks merrily away for at least 5 minutes upon stopping after my
morning commute.

I hope this proves valuable for at least some of the newsgroup readers.
