Default campy escape ergo. Repair/rebuild possible?

moving right along..

Has anyone here successfully pulled apart an escape (old xenon or post
2007 mirage/etc) ergo lever?

There seems to be lots of anecdotal evidence around that "they can't
be rebuilt", but I'm yet to find evidence either way..
Parts are certainly available.

I want to do some exploratory surgery, but am worried that bits might
go "ping" and I won't be able to put it back together.
