In my opinion, much depends on the design of the rim and the loading that you place on it. I'm not familiar with the cross section of the rim in question, so I can't even take a good guess about it, but I have a personal rule of thumb that has not brought me grief so far. That rule is that if the width of the inner face of the rim is more than four times the diameter of a Schrader valve hole, and if the gully inside the rim is wide enough that the Schrader-sized hole will still have at least some flat space all the way around it, then I don't have any qualms about enlarging the hole. If these tests are not met, I look for information about whether the manufacturer made the same rim available drilled for Schrader, and if not, I leave it alone. You'll have to decide for yourself if this is acceptable; I'm not an engineer, and I'm only stating that this has worked for me...so far. -- Typoes are a feature, not a bug. Ok, thanks for your observations on this. I think I'll prob. err on
the side of caution, since i'm no engineer either. on 14 Jul 2005, Werehatrack wrote in : On Thu, 14 Jul 2005 17:12:02 +0000 (UTC), Plastique wrote: Can I also ask, would it be stupid to enlarge the presta valve holes so I can use all the extra schraeder (sp?) tubes I have?
